About Us

OUR PURPOSE AND OUR DESIGNS

  • Lucillin Dolls Fun Multicultural all cloth dolls were founded in 1994 as a hobby which quickly developed passionate awareness of the need for Multicultural Dolls in human realism which was lacking in the departmental stores and obviously in the general toy industry.  This awareness was brought about from the careful observation during the festive seasons when most parents of ethnic background  were seen  painfully looking for toys particularly dolls which would bear some similarity to their culture or some relevance to the ethnic child that would promote confidence of their identity.

Why Multicultural Dolls

  • I listened, watched, surveyed parents and children of different background, I visited department stores with toy outlet, I visited daycare centers, attended craft and trade shows to observe, I knocked on doors in areas densely populated with ethnic families to learn of their expectations and anticipation about toys and their preferences.  Having gathered enough convincing testimonies of the hopes and dreams of young children and anxious parents who hoped for the day to see a significant change in the presentation of dolls and toys widely endorsing all color and culture without being bias, I felt I had an  obligation to contribute to that change, and I vowed I would do so.

The Challenge

  • My doll making project was a challenging step to take and still is,  I set out to create  a brand new world of dolls using the most favorable material I could afford and was able to manipulate being an old fashion designer of clothes.
  • Born out of love, affection, and admiration of the children of the world, their differences and oneness  inexpression, the Lucillin™ Multicultural Cloth Dolls are designed to  boost the morals   and build self confidence in children of all nationality by seeing their true identity in the baby doll  they play and have fun with.

The know how

  • Having a  Fashion Designer's background it was not difficult to become a self taught Doll Artist; besides since my early childhood I have realized that creative passion within me for dolls, but never thought I might have taken it to this extent  until when I was awaken to the knowledge of the need for it.   I had my first doll show in spring of 1996 with no intentions of selling dolls, I only wanted the reaction of the public for my creations, I was assured I had a marketable product   to proceed with.
  • The negative vibes have never been strong enough to distract me, though they be numerous in different forms. The positive has been the most threatening and challenging to my creations.

    The beginning.

  •   Lucillin™ Dolls are the original designs of the combined effort of Lucilda  and Mark Evans of Toronto Ontario, created for play, collection and the education of young children and their rights to be whom they are.
  • Lucillin™ Multicultural Cloth Dolls for children of International communities, made in  human realism strongly appeals to the mixture of children in daycare and schools. We love, promote and place much of our doll making and designs emphasis on Multicultural dolls.

The expression of the dolls

  • Of a winsome and friendly feature much affection has been poured into each doll to project its respective character, a six month  old can appreciate the gaze back of a childlike toy in its hand and quickly develop a bonding  with it, transcending a human relationship  most infants grow with as they would with anything provided for them as a solace or comfort.   I find Doll-making as a special giftedness innate in the heart of the Artist which may only be expressed in the created image made visible.

          The diversity in color

  • The diversity in color is of major significance as a reflection of the diverse complexion in which all human beings are created for distinct identity of nationality. No one can deny what and who we are, like it or not, attempts to make those changes have proven disastrous and very complex.  Acceptance of our respective skin color  is a lesson each child will learn and to become comfortable and assertive in their own skin.

Material choice

The construction material chosen for the Lucillin™ Multicultural Dolls is carefully considered for the safety                    of the youngest  child to ever come in contact with the toy. All possible elements liable to cause hazard in any                    form avoided being used,  in compliance with the (TSSA)  of Canada USA and International. The                                         Lucillin™ dolls are proven to be child safe, free from led, hard surface, buttons or any shedding liable to                            suffocate if sucked on, the absence of these elements guarantee  safety for children of all ages.

    For Education

  • Lucillin™  Dolls are  uniquely designed  from 100% cotton exterior for the soothing comfort of a child a huggable soft body doll from all new material, visible body parts for the education of young children, to touch and identify with their own bodies, typical childlike clothing to remove and replace, as to give care and attention to someone  special.  The Lucillin™ Pampered  Baby dolls  are perfect in the hands of children with new born sibling in the family  caring for their own baby doll changing its diaper as they watched mom performs, the Pamper Baby caring helps to eliminate the jealousy towards a new  sibling who demands a lot of attention and often causes the older child to become  jealous..

Durability

My First baby Dolls

What they mean to me in my doll making practice: Like a first child they are as pride and joy, trial and errors the worst things happen to them they took all the unpleasant critiques especially being black dolls they got a lot of ridicule and discriminating slander against their  creation, but like a birth child its yours you still have to love and own it.

ROCHELLE DOLL

My doll making designs leaned strongly towards black dolls, mainly because they were like a rear specie, when one  would be made available it was very costly if they were worth while buying, they were from one extreme to the other, either too poorly made or too pricey when attractively made.
My effort has always been to make  black dolls as desirable as they ought to be and affordable to consumers.

It was a common saying that black dolls were difficult to make so no one took the interest to bother, that seemed to have been a way getting around not promoting them for other reasons,  Not so today the discovery has been made they are exceptionally beautiful, sought after and more so for monetary gain,
